| Who is The BBQ Effect? |
Our Team is made up of 4 members, Darrin Earley our founding member
along with his BBQ partner David Yerzy with the support of Patricia Wong and
Maria Earley.
What started out as a lark took on a life of its own when we won
third place for chicken and first place for brisket at our very first
competition in Ottawa. We had no idea we could win anything! We had no
clue the Canadian Barbecue Association were actually handing out trophies
too!
Our focus was to just try out and see how it goes. We followed up with 7
more wins during the course of the season. We have a lot to learn which
means the journey is just beginning. We've met some friendly people along
the way and continue to thrive with the philosophy that we enjoy barbecuing
as an all season event. Yes, we barbecue when it snows! Hence the BBQ
Effect, it will do this to you..
Eating smoked meat is an experience, but cooking the meats long and slow
is an art in itself and a zen of all BBQs to experience, crossing over from gas
grilling to charcoal barbecuing is the BBQ Effect. Eating is half the
experience, the journey of barbecuing is another BBQ Effect.
Our philosophy is simple, know the science of barbecuing and you'll know
how to cook it well and cook it right. The BBQ Effect is contagious no doubt
about it.
We use our own Weber Bullets and Kettles. No gas, only charcoal and
briquettes. We sleep outside or in our cars during the overnight cook,
we had no trailer to haul our stuff, we have no uniforms, no hats,
no give aways, no fancy anything.
We use Apple, Cherry, Oak and Hickory Wood.
We make our own Rubs and BBQ sauce using exotic and not so exotic
ingredients which sadly cannot be named.
On a serious note we use only fresh organic meats from animals
raised naturally without chemicals or antibiotics.

A compulsive addiction to barbecue anything and everything no matter what the conditions are. To compete with no expectations and go where the addiction supplies the relief. No fancy trimmings or expensive hard wear, just your good ole basics and a lot of beer and good ingredients. The BBQ Effect brings people together because it's impossible to barbecue for two! |
